HS 101: Fri May 29 - Sending data across the internet
Today we had a look at how we send data across the internet. You also had time to complete the compatibility project using your myBlueprint survey results.
Sci 8: Fri May 29 - Unit 4 Review Time!
After the QQQ today, we did a recap of Unit 4: Optics. Then you had time to work on the Review Assignment: Pg. 164 #1,5-12,15abc; Pg. 198 #1,3-6,8-11,13,15,17,18; Pg. 230 #1-4 (and any other missing work you may have) - we will only have one more review class so plan accordingly! Test is on Wednesday June 3rd!

Sci 8: Thurs May 28 - Eye Dissection!
Today you had a chance to do the Sheep Eye Dissection! Instructions for the lab are on pgs. 212-213 of your textbook. Your lab report (with the questions from the textbook and a conclusion) is due on Monday.
Chem 12: Thurs May 28 - Lab 21 C Pt. 2
Today you had your final lab experiment! We worked through Lab 21C (Part 2 only). You had ample time for the experiment and we spent some time discussion what should go in your lab report (pt. 2 calculations, follow-up #1, conclusion) - the classes average [Fe2+] was 0.1027M. Your report is due on Monday.

Chem 12: Tues May 26 - Redox Titrations
Today we broke down the key ideas of Redox Titrations. Practice on pg. 213 # 26 - 28. Lab 21C (Part 2 only) next day, so come prepared!
Sci 8: Tues May 26 - Retinas, Corrective Lenses, and Distillers pt. 2
Today we wrapped up the last "new material" for our optics unit. We discussed the structure of the retina, how corrective lenses work, and had a look at some examples of optical instruments that make use of lenses and mirrors to focus light. At the end of class, you got to set up your distillers for another test run.

Today we took a bit of a breather. After QQ, we had a look at this visualization of electrochemical cells, and then you had time to get caught up on missing things. You also received the Electrochemistry Assignment (note the update to #4a: NH4+).

Chem 12: Thurs May 21 - Oxidation Numbers Reduction Series
Today we had a look at Oxidation numbers and how to use them to balance (practice on pg. 194 #3-5 (calculating ON), and pg. 210 #25 (balancing)). After break we had some J.o.W, and looked at the series of Standard Reduction Potentials from your data booklet (practice on pg. 199 #7 - 8).
Sci 8: Thurs May 21 - Lenses and Distillers
Today we had a look at lenses some more. We looked at this simulation and then you had a chance to work on the Lenses Lab. After break, we had some J.o.W, and then you got to collect your distillers and work on your write up of how they work.

Sci 8: Tues May 19 - Lenses and Distillers
Today we worked on the basics of how lenses focus light. We read together pgs. 190 - 193 and then we filled in the main ideas on this notes sheet (here is the completed version).Towards the end of class, we went outside and set up your solar water distillers.

Sci 8: Wed May 13 - Refraction and Rainbows!
Today we had some time to have a look at REFRACTION. We read pgs. 174 - 175 and then took down some notes and did example questions. After break we did the QQQ #9, and had some J.o.W. which lead to How are Rainbows formed. We'll start in on Lenses Next week!

Chem 12: Tues May 12 - Unit 5 Electrochemistry Intro
Today we introduced Unit 5: Electrochemistry (we also discussed how the pH scale regions shift with temperature...). Here are the notes, and practice can be found on pg. 192 #1 & 2.
Sci 8: Tues May 12 - Curved Mirrors!
Today we figured out how curved mirrors affect rays of light. We had a class read-aloud of pgs. 185-186, you filled in this notes sheet (here is the completed version), and then you did some practice on pg. 189 #2-6. We had a few minutes at the end to work on your Distiller Project (we'll test run them on Tuesday!)

Today we discussed the different sizes of computer memory from individual bits all the way up to Petabytes (and beyond!). After that, you got to practice the binary place values with 2048!

Today we did parts 1 and 2 of Lab 20G (part 3 is optional for some bonus challenge!). Lab report will be due Tuesday. You also received the Unit 4 Review Practice.
Sci 8: Wed Apr 6 - Creating Light, Distillers, and the Law of Reflection.
We had a busy day today! We started by talking about how to create light. Then we talked about how light can pass through some objects with this notes sheet (here's the completed version).Then we talked about the Solar Water Distiller project. After break we went to the Wellness fair, and then we started talking about the Law of Refelction (we'll finish it on Friday after the QQQ).

Sci 8: Tues May 5 - The Electromagnetic Spectrum
Today investigated the Electromagnetic Spectrum. You read pgs. 152 - 160 in your textbook, then you summarized the key ideas on this notes sheet (here's the summary we did together). We also had a look at an infrared camera and this video on the history of light, and the Electromagnetic Spectrum.
HS 101: Tues May 5 - Toaster vs. Computer
Today we had a deeper look at how computers do Input, Storage, Processing, and Output. Then you had a chance to do the What is a Computer Project (Toaster vs. Computer).
Chem 12: Tues May 5 - Titrations
Today we wrapped up our final lesson of Unit 4 - Titrations. After the notes, you had some practice on pg. 158 #94-96, 103.
