 Today we got into some of our class routines: Quick Questions, Typing, and working in our project list. You had some time to work on the Using Onenote Project.

HS 101: Tues Apr 21 - Welcome to HS 101!

 Today we had our first class of High School 101! You had a chance to hear about the course and then you got to explore your digital notebook!

Chem 12: Tues Apr 21 - Finding Kb and Keq Intro

 Today we got to have some fun with K expressions. We took some notes on how to find Kb from the conjugate's Ka and Kw, and then how to find Keq for generic acid-base equilibria. Your practice was pg. 130 #35-37, and pg. 133 #38-46

Sci 8: Mon Apr 20 - Model Building Project

Today we had a look at the Atom Model Project. You got to brainstorm and plan out what materials you might need. Then we watched this video about the size of the atom, and we finished with some long overdue J.o.W.

Chem 12: Mon Apr 20 - Kw, Ka, Kb

 Today we re-galvanized for the final term of grade 12! Then we had a look at some equilibrium constants: Kw, Ka, and Kb. After the notes, you had practice on pg. 127 #30 * pg. 128 #31-34.

Chem 12: Fri Apr 17 - Strong/Weak Acids & Bases

 Today we welcome back our Bamfield friends! They jumped right in as we discussed Strong/Weak Acids & Bases. Practice on pg. 125 #21-27. Happy end of Term!

Sci 8: Fri Apr 17 - Atoms!

 After the QQQ today, we had a look at Atoms! We discussed some of the History of Atoms. Here is the Building an Atom activity! Afterwards, we took some summary notes.

Sci 8: Wed Apr 15 - Temp Change Lab!

 Today we had a lot of lab work! You worked on the Temperature During Phase Changes Lab (7-4 on pg. 256). Don't forget to include your graph, the questions from the textbook, and a conclusion. This will be due on Monday. If you finished, you also had time to complete the Density Lab from last day.

Chem 12: Wed Apr 15 - Unit 3 Test + Conjugates!

 This morning you wrote the Unit 3: Solubility Test! After that we had a look at Conjugate Acids & Bases with practice on pg. 119 & 121.

Chem 12: Tues Apr 14 - Bronsted Lowry

 Today we had another look at Acids & Bases by looking at the Bronsted-Lowry definitions. We took some notes and then you had practice on pg. 117 #11 & 12 and pg. 119 #13 & 14. Solubility Test tomorrow!

Sci 8: Tues Apr 14 - Density Lab!

 Today we had time to do the Density Lab! There will be some time tomorrow (during our next lab) to complete lab if needed.

Chem 12: Mon Apr 13 - Unit 4 intro

 Today we introduced Unit 4: Acid-Base Chemistry. We talked through our Key Questions and Reviewed Chem 11 definitions. Then you had some work/study time.

Sci 8: Mon Apr 13 - Density!

 Today we worked through Density as a way to measure particle compactness; we took some notes, did some practice on pg. 269, had a look at this visual of floating, and then you read pgs. 260 - 265.

Sci 8: Fri Apr 10 - States of Matter and Phase Changes

 Today we discussed what you tinkered with last day; we took some notes on States of Matter and Phase Changes, and then you had some practice questions on pg. 259.

Chem 12: Fri Ap 10 - Review Time

 Mr. B. was away today, but you had some review time for Unit 3: Solubility. Here is the Unit 3 Recap. You also received the Unit 3 Review Practice (here is the Practice Key) and the Unit 3 Review Assignment (this one is due Monday, and we'll have Friday to work on it as well).

 Today Mr. B. was away, but you wrote the Unit 2: Disease & Immunity Test! After break, you investigated Solids, Liquids, and Gasses with this online simulation, and answered some questions.

Sci 8: Tues Apr 7 - Unit 3: Matter Intro

Today we introduced Unit 3: Matter. We took some intro notes with some of the basic ideas we'll need throughout the unit, and then we looked at a couple of simulations: the scale of the universe, and the way particles are attracted to each other. You'll continue investigating this tomorrow after the Unit 2: Disease & Immunity test.

Chem 12: Tues Apr 7 - Changing Solubility

 Today we cranked through the final new material for Unit 3. Here are the notes on Changing Solubility; practice on pg. 108 # 81 - 86.

Sci 8: Thurs Apr 2 - Review time

 Today we had some time to finish up the Concept Map and Review Assignment. Happy Easter!

Chem 12: Thurs Apr 2 - Selective Precipitation and Lab 19C

 Today we had a look at how to selectively precipitate specific ions in order to do a qualitative analysis. Here are the notes (we'll revisit the questions later). Then you did Lab 19C, precipitating some Lead (II) Iodide. Labs will be due on Wed April 8th.
