 Today we had a look at how internet searches actually work. Then you had a chance to log in to your MyED BC account to view your course marks.

HS 101: Tues Oct 21 - PPT intro and Catch up time

 Today we did a quick intro to how powerpoint works (Transitions and Animations!). Then you had time to work on catching up on any missing projects.

 Today we had some time to do some draft prep. We had a look at the 10 colour pair archetypes for Foundations, and then you had time on the laptops to do some research into the top cards and draft strategies.

HS 101: Fri Oct 17 - Cybercrime & Job Poster

 Today you wrote QQQ #3, and then we had a look at some examples of Cyber Crime. After that, we had a look at the Job Posting Poster project.

 Today we had a chance to work on Reason Quest #4 (Venn Diagrams). Then we had a look at some Optional Quests that you now have access to.

HS 101: Thurs Oct 16 - MyBlueprint Job compatability

 Today we worked on more of the myBlueprint.ca surveys that sort some different job options. We'll finish up the rest of the job options next day!

Games Analysis: Wed Oct 15 - Alt Win/Loss Quest Presentations

 Today we had our Alternate Win/Loss Quest presentations. Thanks to all who presented! After all the presentations, you had time to work on finishing building and testing your new deck.

Games Analysis: Tues Oct 14 - Deckbuilding and card picking

 Today we went over the ideas you need to consider when deckbuilding. After that, you got to sort through some cards and pick a bunch more to get yourselves up to a potential 100 card deck. Win & Loss condition presentations are tomorrow!

Games Analysis: Fri Oct 10 - Alt Win/Loss Con & Journal Catch up Time

 Today you had time to work on your Alt Win/Loss condition presentation; we'll do the presentations next Wednesday, so play accordingly. You also had some time to wrap up any journals from the week; next week we'll also get to do some deck building and card selecting!

 Today we started with a couple rounds of Pandemic; congrats to those who were able to save humanity! After break, we started the Alternate Win/Loss Quest (here's the list of options - we'll have the laptops again tomorrow).

 Today we worked on Reason Quest #3 - Coat of Arms. After that, we took some notes about Winning, Losing, and Tying a game of MtG. We finished with the rules of Pandemic (your homework is to research some strategy!)

HS 101: Tues Oct 7 - Safer Schools Presentation

 After QQ and Typing today we attended a session by Safer Schools Together about how to be safe online. Reminder to research Catan strategies for next class!

 Today we fit in more Keyword ability presentations. We'll be playing Pandemic on Thursday AM, so your homework before then is to find a strategy/how-to-play video.

 Today we had a look at Mulligans. After that we had a look at a Colour Combinations Reason Quest. We wrapped up by looking at this opening hand simulator.

HS 101: Fri Oct 3 - Wires, Cables, Wifi and Catan Rules!

 Today you wrote QQQ #2, and then we had a look at how data is transferred over the internet. After that, we discussed the rules for Catan. You had time to wrap up your Word Skills project after that.

 Today we had a look at a riddle whose solution demonstrated the power of Tree Diagrams. Then, a bunch of you did your Keyword Abilities Presentations (well done!). After break, a few more people learned/played Ticket-to-Ride, and we had some Quest & Game time!

 Today we had another block to work on the Keyword Abilities Research in preparation for our presentations next day. Those who finished a bit early got a chance to learn Ticket-To-Ride.

 Today we headed down to the theatre to learn more about Orange Shirt Day. After that you logged in to your new station and got everything set up. We ended off by looking at the Word Skills Project

 Today you worked on completing the Learning Styles, Personality, and Interest Surveys within MyBluePrint (don't forget the project pages that go with them!).

 Today we had a look at our first Reason Quest. Then we had a look at "Evergreen Abilities" and broke into colours to discuss strategy for (and against) those colours. After break we had a look at the 2 Dice Probabilities Quest (here is the spreadsheet) and the Keyword Abilities Quest.

HS 101: Tues Sept 23 - Bit, Bytes, Circuits, and MyBluePrint

 Today we had a look at how bits and bytes are related in different sizes of computer memory. We watched this video about how computer circuits process information, and then you signed up for you MyBluePrint account.

 Today we finished up the probability notes and examples we started yesterday. After some time to practice (hand it in when you have completed what you want for XP); after that, you had a chance to play your starter decks again.

 Today we spent some time looking at the different Colours of MtG, both in their emphases and combinations. Then we spent some time looking at the different sets and formats that exist within MtG. We ended off with an initial look at Probability - we'll pick up with it next day.

 Today, after QQ and Typing, we had a look at Binary Numbers! We watched this little puzzle video, discussed how numbers "normally" work, had a look at some examples of how computers use binary numbers, and then you worked on the Counting in Binary Project!

 Today we did the Catan Tournament quest! Based on the results, you got to pick your Magic half decks; bring them next class!

 Today we had a look at how computers handle Input, Storage, Processing, and Output. Then you had time to work on the Toaster vs. Computer Project.

 Today we did some more work on Catan! We watched this video about how many options there are for the board, and then we talked through the main strategies for Catan we saw last week. To end off, you had some Initial Placement practice.

 Today we had another look at how your projects are organized, and then you got to work on the RSS Website project. We ended off having a look at our next topic: What is a Computer?

 Today we worked through a scripted game of Magic, and then you got to try some of the "mini" decks you'll get to choose from soon. You also received the Play Everyone Quest (Gotta Catch 'Em All!) and the Play a Rainbow Quest. We'll carry on with this tomorrow!

 Today, after QQ and Typing, we discussed our fire drill and lock-down procedures and then we looked at how to keep your OneDrive tidy! You made folders and sorted your files, and then had time to work on your other projects!

 Today we revisited Tic-Tac-Toe to see what you should do if your opponent doesn't play optimally, and then we had a look a bit at what Magic the Gathering is. We watched a short video explanation, and then you got to sort through a bunch of cards to see what information there is on them.

HS 101: Fri Sept 5 - Getting Started!

 Today we started a bunch of our class routines: Quick Questions, Typing time, and project time! You also got to adjust some settings on your station and we worked through the Using OneNote Project.

Games Analysis: Thurs Sept 4 - Analyzing Tic Tac Toe!

 Today we played our first Game! We started by discussing, "What is a Game?" then we looked a bit at how we can be Thoughtful and Thorough to analyze games. You played some Tic-Tac-Toe and then we broke it down in depth to see what the options for moves are and what the optimal strategy is.  Today we worked through an intro to the course by going over the course outline (don't forget to get your XP for getting it signed!). We discussed the freedom and constraints you have in pursuing learning in this course and what you should be more like by the end of the course. We also went through what your journal entries should look like, and picked out your names for the XP Spreadsheet.
