Today we kicked off Unit 2: Equilibrium. We took some Notes and had a look graphs of [ ] vs time and Rates vs time using the data on pgs. 40 & 41 of the textbook. We also used this demo to see how the forward and reverse reactions are still happening at equilibrium, they just balance out.

Chem 12: Thurs Feb 12 - Review Time!
Today we had some discussion and a moment of silence regarding the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge. After that, we had QQQ #2, JoW, and bunches of Review Time! Reviews are DUE on Tuesday!
Sci 8: Thurs Feb 12 - MDI survey, Comparing Cells, QQQ, and J.o.W!
Today we had a busy class! We started off with the MDI survey in the library. After that, we finished off any existing work you had, plus the comparison of Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic Cells. After break, we had our QQQ #2, and then some J.o.W. and discussion. We finished off with comparing Plant and Animal Cells (using this video and pgs. 24-30 in your textbook); we'll go over it next day!
HS 101: Wed Feb 11 - Checking your marks and MyBlueprint sign up!
Today we had a look at how to sign in to MyEd BC to check your marks in your classes. You also signed up for MyBlueprint.ca to start some of the surveys we'll work on.

Sci 8: Tues Feb 10 - Slides and Cell Theory
Today we worked through the first page of our notes on Cell Theory. Then we had some time to finish off our Using the Microscope "experiment" from last day (if you did not finish, please come in on Thursday at lunch to finish it off).
HS 101: Tues Feb 10 - Bits, Bytes, and 2048!
Today we continued discussing how computers are information machines by looking at the different names for the units that represent the number of bits (kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes...etc). After that, you had some time to work on your projects, and then as a treat, we had a look at how to play 2048!
Chem 12: Tues Feb 10 - Unit 1 Recap and Review Practice
Today we did a Recap of Unit 1 ideas. After that, we watched a quick video of Catalysts in catalytic converters. After that, you got the Unit 1 Practice Review, and then finally the Unit 1 Review Assignment (Due Tuesday at the LATEST).

Sci 8: Mon Feb 9 - Microscope Field of View
Today those of us who weren't at basketball worked more on using the microscopes. We worked partway through this investigation to see if we could figure out how big something is based on what we see under the microscope; we did not finish, so we'll wrap it up tomorrow!
Chem 12: Mon Feb 9 - Catalysts
Today we had our final set of notes for Unit 1 on Catalysts! After that, you had some time to work on the practice problems: pg. 34 #56 - 61, and pg. 36 #62 - 63.

Chem 12: Fri Feb 6 - QQQ #1 and Reaction Mechanisms
After your QQQ today, we took some notes on Reaction Mechanisms; there were a *few* minutes left for you to work on the practics: Pg. 28 #46 - 53 & Pg. 30 #54 - 55. Don't forget your lab 18C reports are due on Monday.
HS 101: Fri Feb 6 - QQQ #1 and Binary Numbers!
Today you wrote Quick Questions Quiz #1. After that (and typing), we had a chance to learn a bit about the Binary Number System. After discussing how number systems work (# symbols = place value base number), we watched this video challenge, and this video about how computers use binary. You then had some project work time (including the RSS Website Project).
Sci 8: Fri Feb 6 - QQQ #1 and Microscopes!
Today you wrote your first Quick Questions Quiz (#1)! After that, you read pgs. 11 - 14 in your textbook to introduce yourselves to microscopes. Then we worked through this page of microscope parts and functions. After that you had a chance to try out the microscopes with a bunch of different slides at low, medium and high power!

Chem 12: Tues Feb 3 - KE distributions
Today we took some notes on Kinetic Energy Distributions. After that, you had some practice problems on pg. 16 #24-28 (last days questions), pg. 19 #29 - 30, and pg. 23 #34 - 40. At the end of class we had a quick look at what you need in a lab report to prep us for Lab 18C tomorrow.

HS 101: Mon Feb 2 - What is a computer and some work time.
Today we did our QQ and typing practice; after that we discussed what makes a computer a computer? Then you had some work time on your projects (Using OneNote & Organizing your files).
Chem 12: Mon Feb 2 - Rates Assignment and Energy in Rxns
Today you had some time to work on the Rates Assignment and then we took some notes on Energy in Rxns (similar to sec. 1.6).
Sci 8: Mon Feb 2 - Science Equipment and Experimental Questions
Today you had a look at a whole bunch of different science equipment. After that, you were given some "experimental questions" and you had to form a hypothesis, list out variables, and plan how you could test your hypothesis while keeping control of the variables.

Sci 8: Fri Jan 30 - How we do Science
After our QQ today, we had a look at how to actually DO science. We brainstormed some great ideas about doing science, then you read Pg.s 476 - 479, and we summarized the Scientific Method. Then we watched Mark Rober use these ideas to design a rock skipper. Then we finished off with matching up some Scientific Method Terms.
Chem 12: Fri Jan 30 - Collision Theory
Today we did a few QQ, and then we had a look at Collision Theory (Sec 1.5). We took some great notes, had a look at this simulation to see some collisions in action, and then you had practice on pg. 12 # 20 - 22.

Chem 12: Wed Jan 28 - Chem 11 Overview, Unit 1 Intro & Rates
Today we did a quick recap of Chem 11 using some old final exam questions. After that we took some intro notes about the Key Questions of the course, and then started in on Unit 1: Reaction Kinetics. We took notes on Sec 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 with practice questions on pg. 2 #1-5 and pg. 8 - 10 #12 - 17.
Sci 8: Wed Jan 28 - Textbook tour, Safety, and Science!
After our Quick Questions we did a Tour of the Textbook. Then in the second half, we brainstormed some safety ideas, worked through this Safety T/F, and then discussed how science is about our best guesses!
